Wells Academy of Theatrical Arts
With two fully produced shows a year and our summer school show in a week there are great opportunities to perform!
Every February and June the School puts on two fully produced show days at the Little Theatre in Wells.
THIS YEAR we took over the Wookey Hole Caves theatre for our FULL Academy production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!
With ALL of our students taking part !
FOUR musicals in a DAY !!
Summer 2021 we actually managed to perform and film NINE mini musicals in a day !!
EVERY pupil who attends classes at the Academy is given the opportunity to take part and perform. Many of our shows are especially adapted for the children taking part so everyone can have a speaking, singing and dancing part.
Each age group has their own full show each allowing every class and child maximum 'stage time!'. All the shows have beautiful costumes, lighting and scenery. They provide a wonderful experience for all the children who take part.
The school has been putting on shows now for 22 years and has a huge repertoire! In addition to our own shows we are often invited to perform at other venues. Many of our pupils take part in local pantomimes and community Plays in the area.
Last year pupils successfully auditioned for lead roles in the Wells Theatre Festival Plays & others have appeared in BBC Dramas.
This year our students have performed in local pantomime, professional pantomime and many of them successfully audition for the main parts in their secondary and primary school productions.
We are very proud to congratulate our old student Jessica Mitchelmore who has just started her tour with the uk production of MAMA MIA as Sophie .. !!
WATA students Milly and Georgia came first and third in the Wells has got Talent Contest and Georgia went on the reach the finals in a national competition.
Abbie Welsh played the lead in Les Misrables and Matilda at the Blue School, Natalie Lythaby the lead in We will Rock you at St Gregories in Bath & Adele Carr The lead in Chicago at Bristol university … All such fun to go and watch !
